Welcome to Kelly89.com,
Hopefully this finds you doing well. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to read this, as I know it can be hard to find the time in our busy schedules to just sit and read. My name is Kelly Young, and you are receiving this letter because I know you in some way, shape or form. I grew up attending Durham Memorial Baptist Church, and I am now a member of Independence Hill Baptist Church. I am 19 years old, and have lived in Charlotte, NC my entire life. I am currently attending the Art Institute of Charlotte, majoring in Interior Design.
I am writing to share with you a major development that has come about in my life, something big, something life changing. As you may already know, I have had the opportunity to go to Nicaragua with Independence Hill for mission trips on two occasions – once in the Summer of 2007, and again in the Summer of 2008. Since my first moments there, I knew God had sent me that place to show me something he wanted me to be a part of for years to come. I really connected with the children, and they really found a place in my heart. Unfortunately, we were not able to make a trip as a church this year, so I was not able to go this past summer.
It has been heavy on my heart to make a return trip, especially since not being able to go this past summer, and the opportunity has presented itself for me to do just that. I have committed to return December 28, 2009 and stay through April 2, 2010, about 14 weeks. Yes, you read that correctly, it is a very long time, and a very big step of faith. I will be working with New Song Mission Nicaragua, founded by Tommy and Linda Gable, and will be living in a village named Candelaria. Independence Hill has been working with this ministry since 2005, in their humble beginnings. A team of 4 others and I will be living there, in a dormitory, on the church property, assisting in the ministry however we can.
I am sharing this with you for two very important reasons. First, I’d like to ask for your prayers. As I said before, this is a huge step for me, and I want all of my friends and family to keep me in their thoughts and prayers as I go on this journey. Venturing out into the mission field can be very challenging, and sometimes even dangerous, both physically and spiritually, but I know that the Lord has called me to do this for a reason, and will keep me from harm. Your prayers will be greatly appreciated. Second, I need your financial support. Clearly, not everyone is called in to the international mission field, and for those that aren’t, they can still be a part of it in this way. Airfare is very expensive during the month of December, not to mention basic living expenses for almost 4 months, while being completely unpaid. If you are able to contribute to my cause, in any amount, big or small, please do. It would be a huge blessing, and it would be going directly to fund the Lord’s work. If you can’t swing financial support, that is no problem at all, your prayers alone will be truly appreciated.
If you are interested in sponsoring me, please send an email to the address listed below. Also, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Looking forward to your response.
In Christ,
Kelly Young
